(so yes, my parents ditched me yet again this spring...)
Pinehurst was created in 1895, and the resort now has eight golf courses, three hotels, a spa and extensive sports and leisure facilities (it is the world's largest golf resort)
Pinehurst has hosted some of the most prestigious golf tournaments in North America (US Open, Ryder Cup and PGA Championship). And of course hosting a plane full of Canadian business men must have been an honour as well...
Mom's job was to help Aunt Nycki with running the tournament, but she did manage to sneak away one afternoon to play golf.
And no trip to Pinehurst is complete without a shot with Payne Stewart (Payne won the US Open in 1999 and tragically died 4 months later in a plane crash... Pinehurst created this statue of him on the 18th green at course no. 2)
Dad got to play Pinehurst No. 2, the most renowned course at the resort (Dave Randorf from TSN played with Dad as well)
Mom didn't want to score, so Dave Randorf created an interesting way to keep track of mom's golf - which also included keeping track of her beer intake as well.
As you can see mom managed to get lots of smiley faces meaning she had a very good round!
