The CreativFestival

Every October brings The CreativFestival, which ultimately means 'crafty' ladies from all over southern Ontario pull out their favourite quilted vest from their closets, don their chained grannie glasses and pack up their Mary Poppins carpeted bags on wheels and converge on the Metro Toronto Convention centre!!
The night before heading to the mecca of  material, yarn, scissors, sewing machines, thread and everything crafty inbetween - mom and grandma prepare themselves.

First they drink.

Then they get out their embroidery thread colour charts and make a shopping list of coveted and/or replacement threads

And lastly, they pose for silly pictures for Papa John.

This year's show was a huge success!

Mom and Grandma filled their bags with thread, scarves, and flannel material.  Papa John (the only paying creativfest attendee of the male gender) acted as their 'material mule' following the ladies around, paying for their purchases and carrying all their crafty goods.  For the record, all the other ladies were jealous... their husbands probably wouldn't come within an 10 kilometre radius of show :) ummm Dad?

So friends, lots of new embroidery coming to a Christmas near you!
The next morning (at a bright and early 6am!) Grandma and Papa somehow willingly came to my very first hockey practice of the season
(more on hockey to come later this week!)

After my hockey practice, we enjoyed a nice family breakfast at The Sunshine Spot  and then we headed over to the local Metro for yet another fall tradition - picking out Halloween pumpkins from a box.

And as seasoned viewers of this blog know, the best way to find the best pumpkins is to actually GET IN the box itself.  Once again, Papa was very accommodating and helpful in that regard :)

 Aren't traditions the best!?!
Thanks Grandma and Papa for another great CreativFestival fall adventure weekend!! We look forward to it every year :)

Thank you for letting us come and spend a couple of days with you guys!!! We love it and wish we could do it more often! I wish I could go to all your hockey games and cheer (much to your mother's dismay, and help with the pumpkin carving and and all the Halloween festivities!
Thanks again for a great time (in and out of the pumpkin bin!)
Love, Grandma (and Papa)
