Some favourite Etherington 2012 Christmas Memories:
• Nana’s delicious chestnut soup that we only get to sample once a year at Christmas (criminal really!)
• Uncle Sean ‘transforming’ my new Optimus Prime from robot to truck while his brothers time him and egg him on (despite the harassment, I thought he did a fantastic job)
• (one of mom’s favourite things) Drinking from my great-grandparents red Venetian wine glasses that are truly one of kind and are very precious to Nana
• Seeing 2-year-old Sloane get VERY mad at her Uncle Mark for allegedly stealing her English chocolate bars
• The re-introduction of the pineapple game… where we all place our bets on how many leaves a certain pineapple has. Dad was the big winner and will no doubt remind us of his champion status all year long
• Watching the girls open their presents and totally not getting it at all (why are they so excited about doll clothes??!)
• Watching a simple game / quiz that Nana gave to us kids and having it turn into an all-out, no-holds-barred Etherington youth competition…. Even with Nana repeating ‘no, no, it’s not meant to be a competition! It’s just for fun’. P.S. Go Team Beej and Skylar!
• Trying our best to use the various sounding whistles that came in our Christmas crackers to play Christmas carols – and ultimately failing miserably at it (we all jokingly blamed Andrea for the failure)
• Watching Nana and Papa try to instill order and timing to our day and eventually (and happily) giving in to the chaos that always ensues when 5 children are involved…
