Witness my first time hosting a birthday sleepover party.
Of course, my inaugural invitees were Dylan and Lola.
Please note that we weren't actually going to bed in this picture, we were just simply trialling the sleeping accommodations in my room
I got to choose the feature film for the evening
Surprisingly I chose Charlotte's Web. Apparently my disdain for animals does not extend to creepy talking spiders
As you can see, we all cuddled up together on the couch to watch (we all requested individual blankets and individual bowls of popcorn though)
This is mom's favourite shot from my sleepover party.
There is a lot happening in this picture, so I'll try my best to explain all of it:
1. Lola is the only one still watching the movie at this point. At the time this shot was taken, Charlotte the spider had just created her nest of eggs and was 'getting very tried'. Lola became concerned for Charlotte, and this feeling only heightened when Dylan and I abruptly informed her that Charlotte would be dead soon
2. Mom loved having a little girl in her house, so she couldn't resist having some girl-like slumber party activities which included sewing projects and doing nails. Much to mom's delight Lola was a very willing participant and thus can be seen getting her nails shellac'ed in this picture
3. In the background you can see me trying to suffocate Dylan with a pillow. Don't feel bad for Dylan though, as he got in a lot of good shots too. In fact, earlier in the night, Dylan and I were hitting each other with the pillows. Mom told us to cease and desist. So Dylan came up with the idea that if we held the pillows in two hands and just pushed them at each other, that technically wouldn't constitute 'hitting'. Mom gave up and conceded that 'boys will be boys'. Or as Lola would say "those boys are SO silly!"
And because the three of us were all little angels for the party (and pretty much always), mom and dad will look forward to many sleepovers with Dylan and Lola in the future!!
