Broken, Mom goes on the DL

"Bad" can be defined as injurious in effect, detrimental and "Idea" as a plan, scheme, or method

Bad Idea = playing flag football at 10pm in the middle of hurricane Sandy.

People can break ankles doing silly things like that!!

Meet the Hell's Mary football team.
Now responsible for 2 broken bones in mom's body.

Mom was carried off the field in the last play of the last game of the regular season.

There was some unflattering language used and very unflattering tears shed, but she did help her team secure an important victory.

Football is serious business after all (as evident by this look on Dad's face)

Because mom couldn't play in the final game this week, she opted instead to take pictures on the sidelines (poorly)

Mom took this picture of her broken foot (again, no photographic brilliance here).

Perhaps it was the pre-game outing with the team where she consumed 3 pints of beer and some scotch???

Or maybe there was a problem with the camera. Yes, definitely the camera.

For the record though, mom was a lightweight compared to her team-mates who  were actually playing in the game.  Can you count how many drinks are in front of Leah?

Nevertheless the Hell's Marys were victorious!  Witness them in action below.

Long gone are the days when the team could guarantee at least 3 or 4 Hail Mary passes in each game.  With age, they've conceded that '10 and turn' might be more applicable. And 'go deep' means look off the line.

Leah with the tackle!

Get it Giddens!!!

Dad with the kick-off
So close Uncle Darcy! so close...

Meet Johnny Ginou, the QB.
Johnny is famous in flag football circles for yelling out his play calls loudly, right in front of the opposing team.  Normally this would be a competitive advantage for the other team, except for two things:
1. No one ever really runs the routes they are supposed to
2. 70% of his calls are 'poppy seed' which means just do whatever you want

Something that Johnny is also famous for...

When Grandma heard that mom broke her ankle, she was insistent that this should be a career-ending injury.

Mom does not agree.

Instead she is anxious to get off the DL and return for at least one more season of football next year! Just no more playing in hurricanes…
